Aces Top VollleyPirates in Four
On Thursday Continental High School Volleyball team traveled to Hicksville to take on the Aces in a non-league game. The Pirates came out and took the first game 25-16. The second game was a close 25-23 final that went the Aces way. A 25-19 Aces win in game 3 was followed by a match sealing 25-20 Aces win in the fourth and final game.
Continental is now 4-2 and will open their Putnam County League schedule on Tuesday when they host Columbus Grove. Hicksville improves to 2-0.
Pirates Take Their PCL Boys Soccer Opener 5-0
On Friday night the Pirates boys soccer team opened up their Putnam County League schedule by traveling to Miller City. The Pirates controlled the action the majority of the game as they outshot Miller City 15-0. The Pirates opened the scoring action early as they put 3 in in the first half. A pair of Christian Perez goals and a goal by Tyler Brecht (on a Perez assist) was the damage done by the Pirates in the first half. Perez completed the hat trick in the second half and Konnor Okuley hit the back of the net for the Pirates for the 5-0 final.
The Pirates improve to 4-0 (1-0 PCL) and will travel to Temple Christian on Tuesday in a non-league match. Miller City falls to 0-7 (0-1 PCL). The Pirates took the JV action 5-2.
Lady Pirates 8-0 Over Jeffcats
On Saturday Continental played host to Delphos Jefferson in a non-league girls soccer battle. Continental hit the back of the net 4 times in each as they controlled the action. The Wildcats were held to one shot on goal and did not score. Alex Hoeffel had the hat trick for the Pirates while Kaitlyn Alvarado put in a pair of goals. Riley Fenter, Sierra Prowant, and Maddie Burke also scored for the Pirates. Angel Brzozowski posted the shutout in the Pirate goal as she stopped one shot. Continental had 39 shots on the game.
The Pirates are now 2-2 and will host Fort Jennings (2-2) on Tuesday in their PCL opener. Delphos Jefferson falls to 1-4.
