Community recycling is available this week, Monday, January 8 through Friday, January 12. The bins are located at the Continental Water Treatment Plant on the west edge of town at 501 West Elm Street (1 block south of Rice Street). Recyclable items include paper/cardboard, plastics (1, 2, & 4), and metal cans.
Also, the permanent recycling bins that were located in Ottawa’s Walmart parking lot have been moved to the Putnam County Fairground.
What cannot be recycled? No Styrofoam, plastic bags, paper containers with wax or plastic coatings such as pet food bags, frozen food packages, salt bags, cardboard milk or juice containers.
Items collected at mobile sites are NOT always the same items accepted at permanent sites. All recycling needs to be clean. Please do not put items that are not recyclable in the bins and read all labels for clarification.
