    The OHSAA Northwest District kept the Kalida Division III Boys Soccer District the same as last year. In 2016 Bluffton advanced out of the Kalida District only to be taken out in the Regional Semifinal by Mansfield Christian. The District field includes all the teams from the Putnam County League. Allen East, Bluffton, Lincolnview, Paulding and Spencerville from the Northwest Conference and Licnolnview, Lima Temple, and Lima Central Catholic from the West Ohio Soccer League.     The Continental High School girls soccer team should look into various mile reward programs as the team will travel a lot in 2017. After a season opening home game against Paulding the Pirates travel to Riverdale (59 miles) then to Wauseon ( 38 miles). A home game against Jefferson is followed by their PCL home opener against Fort Jennings (Sept 5). Other long road trips include Van Buren (35 miles) , Northwood (72 miles), and Crestview (36 miles).     All the Putnam County League girls soccer teams will once again try to advance out of the Ottoville Division III District. The bi-annual shuffling of division team assignments did not impact the teams going to Ottoville but it did have an impact in the region as Ottawa Glandorf moves down to Division III. Last year Lima Central Catholic advanced out of the Ottoville District and were eliminated in the Regional Semifinal by Liberty Benton.     Keller Places 7th at Regionals

    Pirate Freshman Katie Keller made the trip on Friday to the OHSAA Division III Track and Field Regional Finals in Tiffin. Keller was the only qualifier from the Archbold District to make the final and went into the 300M hurdle finals with the top seed. Katie finished with a time of 48.44 just 1.87 seconds away from first place and .68 seconds away from qualifying for the State meet.     Maag, Meyer and Homier To Lead the Pirates Boys Basketball Program

    Columbus Grove Alum Eric Maag was officially hired as the Continental High School Boys Basketball Varsity Program Head Coach. In 2006 Maag was a key piece of the Bulldog team that were the Division IV Basketball State Runner-up. On their way to State, the Bulldogs took out the Pirates in the Regional Final. Maag is a 2007 graduate of Columbus Grove and a 2011 graduate of Ohio Northern University. He served as Bulldog Junior Varsity coach from 2011-2015 and was the interim Varsity Coach in 2015-2016.     Keller Advances to Regional Hurdle Finals

    Only one of the four 300M Hurdlers from the Archbold District advanced to the OHSAA Division III Girls Tiffin Regional Finals but that one did so with the best time. Pirate Freshman Katie Keller will be in Lane 4 on Friday to try to advance to the State Semifinals. Keller posted a 47.81 time to take the top seed on Wednesday night.
