    Community recycling is available this week, Monday, January 8 through Friday, January 12. The bins are located at the Continental Water Treatment Plant on the west edge of town at 501 West Elm Street (1 block south of Rice Street). Recyclable items include paper/cardboard, plastics (1, 2, & 4), and metal cans. Also, the permanent recycling bins that were located in Ottawa’s Walmart parking lot have been moved to the Putnam County Fairground. What cannot be recycled? No Styrofoam, plastic bags, paper containers with wax or plastic coatings such as pet food bags, frozen food packages, salt bags, cardboard milk...

    Posted on the Putnam County OH Sheriffs Office Facebook page (12/28/17): We have some unfortunate news regarding K-9 Beau. Since June, Sgt. Brecht, Beau’s handler, has witnessed Beau having a seizure on three separate occasions. Each time Sgt. Brecht immediately went to or consulted with our local vet. After this last seizure, our local vet, Dr. Baldridge, diagnosed him with Epilepsy. Due to the important work Beau does for the county and time and money spent making him such a great working K-9, a second opinion was received from a veterinarian neurologist at MedVet, a well-regarded vet clinic in Columbus....
